The edge of the Sahara and the dunes of Erg Chebbi.
A village at the edge of Erg Chebbi, a sea of dunes up to about 150 metres high near the Algerian border. People come for the camels, the silence and the stars.
There is no train. Most visitors come by car with a driver over two days, or by overnight Supratours bus from Fes or Marrakech; the camps collect guests by 4x4.
A local tip
Go in spring or autumn: summer days pass 45°C and winter nights freeze. Bring a scarf against the wind and sand.
